Week 12 — a daffodil, at your baby’s true size: 5.4 cm (2.1 in), crown to rump.

How big is the baby at 12 weeks?

About 5.4 cm (2.1 in), measured crown to rump — the size of a daffodil.1

The fetus is about 5.4 cm from head to bottom. Internal organs and muscles have grown, the skeleton is beginning to harden from tissue into bone, and the sex organs have formed.

12 weeks pregnant is how many months?

Week 12 falls in the third month of pregnancy. Weeks and months don’t divide evenly, and your antenatal care counts in weeks — so Zohra keeps weeks, and prints the month for the relatives who ask.

That puts you in the first trimester (weeks 1–13).

What might you be noticing?

Nausea, breast tenderness, bloating, and mood changes may still be present. Dizziness can also continue.1

Mark the end of this chapter in a way that fits your story: a photo, a walk, a private sentence, or nothing at all. Gather appointment notes in one place so they are easy to find later.

For the record: What would you place in a time capsule from the first trimester? — this week’s page in the app asks the same thing. All forty prompts are here.
