Week 8
The Violet (~2 cm) sits close to the earth, vivid without needing to be large. This week, its quiet color marks growth that is still mostly private.

How big is the baby at 8 weeks?
About 1.6 cm (0.6 in), measured crown to rump — the size of a violet.1
The embryo is around 16 mm long, and the head has begun to uncurl. The arms and legs are lengthening, and around this time the embryo begins to be called a fetus.
8 weeks pregnant is how many months?
Week 8 falls in the second month of pregnancy. Weeks and months don’t divide evenly, and your antenatal care counts in weeks — so Zohra keeps weeks, and prints the month for the relatives who ask.
That puts you in the first trimester (weeks 1–13).
What might you be noticing?
Tiredness, nausea, and more frequent urination are common at week 8. Mood changes and bloating may also appear.1
Set out tomorrow's essentials tonight so the morning asks less of you. Save a color from this week—a photo, fabric swatch, or single word.
For the record: What color belongs to this chapter so far, and why? — this week’s page in the app asks the same thing. All forty prompts are here.
